Vancouver BC – Justin and Lea Ault would like to announce that after eight wonderful years, they and their team at Hapa Beach are bidding farewell to their Kitsilano Beach location effective Sunday, August 30th.
Said Justin, “This is bittersweet for us. We put a lot into Hapa Kits over the last eight years and while we’re sad to let it go, we feel we’ll be that much stronger as an organization and be better equipped to face the challenges that come with running three Hapa Izakaya locations (Robson, Yaletown and Coal Harbour). Lea and I offer our profound appreciation to our staff, neighbours and regulars who have contributed so much to the success of Hapa Kits over the years. We are going to miss our second restaurant baby but look forward to new opportunities.”
Lea and Justin Ault introduced Hapa Izakaya to Vancouver in 2003, setting a high standard for the host of contenders that followed.
Voted “Top Five Izakayas In North America” by Bon Appétit Magazine, topping “Industry” and “Readers Choice” Georgia Straight awards for Best Japanese in 2012 and Best Izakaya in 2014 and 2015, and “Best Casual Chain” by Vancouver Magazine from 2011-2014, Hapa continues to offer a winning combination of Japanese cuisine, fun, and culture, paired with local seasonal and Ocean Wise ™ ingredients.
